The eightieth anniversary of the Battle of the Overpass was recognized in 2017. This was a pivotal moment for the history of Detroit, the automobile industry and the United Automobile Workers Union. This program with Mike Smith of the University of Michigan’s Bentley Historical Library will explore how this struggle affected the American Labor Movement and brought legendary unionist Walter Reuther into the spotlight.
