Gold Found in River Raisin!

Gold Found in Tecumseh

September 7, 1967 Tecumseh Herald:

“There is gold in them there hills! “ Around Tecumseh, that is, according to the Diamond hunter, Ora Williams, and her young nephew, Delbert, who say they found several nuggets along the Raisin River. Mrs. Williams remember an article published in 1848 that stated gold was discovered in Tecumseh on the banks of the River Raisin and thought they would give it a shot. The article went on to say that the gold was principally gold mixed with ore, 35% gold and a “very rich” find for the area.

To good to be true? Come to the Tecumseh Museum and share your “historic” finds.
